From 4th to 11th August, the 1st Ice Speed Skating Event “Nora Vega” took place in Ushuaia.
Due to the fact that ice had started to melt, the natural Long Track could not be used. For that reason, clinics and races took place in a smaller iced lake.
With reference to the sport promotion, a group of representatives from UVEPA, led by our secretary Nora Vega, was invited to a meeting with the Governor of Tierra del Fuego. A press conference was given at his office that afternoon, where the Minister of Coordination was also present. On that occasion, it was mentioned the title given to Nora Vega as “Visitante Ilustre” (Honorable Visitor) by the Governor. We also explained to the media the reasons for our visit there.
